NEW GEAR
World's First and Only Titanium Regulator
Atomic Aquatics has introduced the most significant advancement in scuba regulators in a generation--the Titanium regulator.
Titanium is a magic material, the perfect match for the ocean environment. It is as strong as steel, yet half the weight. It is completely inert in sea water. Even after centuries in the sea it will look as new as the day it was made. It is for this reason titanium is the material of choice for the most demanding of situations, such as aerospace where titanium is used extensively. Titanium components are extremely durable and do not rust or fail due to the effects of corrosion.
From thousands of hours of research, Atomic has developed the world's first and only titanium second-stage regulator at a price comparable to other premium "brass and plastic" second stages. All the metal components are made from titanium for unprecedented durability, reliability and lightweight.
Designers of this revolutionary regulator are no strangers to innovation in scuba gear. Designers Dean Garraffa and Doug Toth have over a dozen patents to their credit in 20 years of designing diving equipment. In 1995 they left Scubapro to form Atomic Aquatics.
Incorporated into the Ti2 second stage are a number of innovative features. Just a few of these include a titanium valve body, low friction bearing surfaces, using a Kevlar reinforced polymer insert, a balanced poppet, titanium valve spring and lever, and a seat saving orifice de- sign that dramatically prolongs the life of the rubber seat. Another innovation is the Automatic Flow Control (AFC). The AFC is the first and only depth activated venturi control that automatically balances performance and stability.
The first stage is available in either traditional, chrome-plated brass or titanium. The first stage is compact and uses a large, balanced, flow-through piston. High-pressure piston seal is self lubricating and rated to 4350 p.s.i. (with optional DIN connection). An optional ambient chamber seal kit is avail- able for freeze protection at low temperatures. There are two high-pressure ports and five low-pressure ports.
Interested individuals can see the new Ti2 regulator and speak with its designers at SCUBA '97 aboard the Queen Mary, June 20-22 at booth #147. For an Atomic dealer near you, see the Dive Store Directory at the back of this issue or contact Atomic Aquatics at (714)375-1433.
